YAOI Copenhagen
2016 / 12 minutes / Danish with English subtitles
The film was made with a group of young(ages 16 -21) members of the LGBT community, who grew up on the outskirts of Copenhagen. As a response to their personal isolation and the attendant lack of a place to just be as members of the gay community, they discover an abandoned cinema (Stenløse Bio) which serves as a kind of safe haven. As a result of this decision, the old movie house assumes a meaning quite different from that of its original purpose. The film is a delicate portrayal of these young people interacting with one another, exploring their new friendships, and their chosen sexuality with the old film house as an artistic backdrop. This is a film about identity and gender and the search for a place to be.
